The Municipal Court will be closed both Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 in accordance with the Hays County Government Center’s holiday schedule.

The free SummerFest celebration will run from 6-10 p.m. at San Marcos Plaza Park Tuesday, July 4. Private Fireworks Banned

The City Fire Code prohibits “the sale, possession, storage, discharge or offer for sale of fireworks” in the city limits or within 5,000 feet of the city limits. The penalty for violating the ordinance, which is part of the fire safety code, includes fines of up to $2,000.

The Fire Marshal’s Office and the San Marcos Police Department will be on the lookout for violations over the holiday and will enforce the code. To report illegal fireworks in San Marcos, call the police non-emergency number at 512.753.2108.

Rio Vista Pool Open

Rio Vista pool will be open July 4 for a special Red, White & Blue Celebration from noon until 6 p.m. Daily entry fee is $2.25 for youths, $3.25 for adults.

Park Rules

Big crowds are expected to enjoy the San Marcos River and parks during the day. For information on park rules, visit www.sanmarcostx.gov/parkrules.

Regular Trash Collection Routes

Texas Disposal Systems will operate its usual trash collection and recycling routes. Customers planning to go out of town are asked to put their carts on the curb no earlier than 7 p.m. the night before scheduled pick up and return them to the house as soon as they arrive home.

Residents who will be gone all week are encouraged to ask a neighbor to take their trash cart to the curb on trash day and return it to the house after pickup. As a reminder, with the daytime temperatures over 90 degrees, residents are asked not to miss their scheduled trash pick-up day. The contents can heat up and cause a substantial odor.

If you have any questions, please contact Amy Kirwin, Community Enhancement Initiatives Coordinator, at 512.393.8407.
