School Fuel San Marcos, Buda Elementary Receive Donation From A+ Federal Credit Union As Part Of 70th Anniversary Celebration

Staff Reports

A+ Federal Credit Union kicked off the celebration of their 70th anniversary in 2019 with donations to local schools and organizations including two in Hays County.

Buda Elementary and School Fuel San Marcos were among 20 others throughout Central Texas who received donations to pay school lunch balances as part of A+ FCU’s A+ Gives program.

School Fuel San Marcos received a donation of $500 to go toward providing sack lunches to over 700 students in the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District.

School Fuel San Marcos’s mission is to provide the “fuel” for a better learning environment by removing the pangs of hunger amongst the students in San Marcos classrooms.

The organization provides food sacks for students who have a high risk of little or no food at home. On average the cost is about $215 per student for an entire year. Each sack consists of two meals and four snacks for each day of the weekend.

Buda Elementary received $646.96 to go toward paying off the school lunch balances of its students; the school was among 15, who were able to pay off their balances completely.

“We’re excited to give back in such an impactful way to the schools and communities we serve,” Kerry A.S. Parker, A+FCU CEO, said. “This was a great way to kick off A+ Gives and the celebration of our 70th anniversary.”
