School Fuel Seeks Volunteers For Spring 2018

School Fuel is a non-profit organization, which relies on donations and volunteers to help provide the food for students.

School Fuel San Marcos has opened volunteer registration for the Spring semester.

In 2013, School Fuel started as a pilot program to provide food for children who struggled with hunger at home. Today, it serves over 600 students in the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District.

Students who have a high-risk of little or no food at home are provided two sack meals and four snacks for each day of the weekend. On average $215 can feed a child for the entire school year through the program.

School Fuel is a non-profit organization, which relies on donations and volunteers to help provide the food for students. There are four ways to help the effort to help feed these students: volunteer, donate, sponsor or fundraiser.

Over 75 percent of SMCISD students qualify for free or reduced lunch and breakfast.

Volunteer opportunities are available one or two Wednesdays a month. Donations are taken at any time and all funds go toward supporting the program. Fundraising events can be held by individuals or businesses.

On May 15, School Fuel will host its annual banquet and silent auction. More information on the event will be available in the spring.
