Seguin Police Department challenges Seguin Fire Department to no shave November contest

Staff Reports

SEGUIN – Seguin Police officers and Seguin Firefighters/EMTs may have a little more hair on their faces than usual this month, but they’re doing it for a good cause. Police officers and first responders from both departments are participating in the annual No Shave November campaign.

Triston, local Navarro High School athlete

No Shave November aims to educate the public about cancer prevention, saving lives, and aiding those fighting the battle.

For the last several years, Seguin police officers have ditched their razors for the month-long campaign and have foregone shaving to raise money and awareness for cancer. But this year, the Seguin Police Department has challenged the Seguin Fire Department to a No Shave November “Stache-Off” competition to see which department can raise the most money for Triston, a local Navarro High School athlete who was recently diagnosed with testicular cancer. All proceeds will help the family pay for medical bills and treatments.

“The Seguin Fire Department is up to the challenge,” said Fire Chief Dale Skinner. “We are growing and grooming our mustaches and are confident we will be victorious! We are very happy to be a part of a great cause for a local young man,” he said.

Seguin’s Assistant Police Chief Jaime “Rusty” Suarez said, “As a department we love to come up with different ways to make a positive impact in our community outside our normal interaction with citizens. No Shave November is a perfect opportunity to do just that, while at the same raising money to help a young man in our community who is being treated for testicular cancer. The friendly competition between the PD the fire department is just the icing on the cake.”

Throughout the month of November, the Seguin PD and Seguin Fire Department will post photos of participants on their respective Facebook pages with their names labeled on each picture. Please visit https://www.facebook.com/SeguinPolice and https://www.facebook.com/SeguinFireDepartment

The public can read Triston’s story and vote for their favorite ‘staches of the Seguin PD or Seguin FD by making a donation at the following GoFundMe link: https://gofund.me/6a91c514

When making donations, donors will need to indicate the name of the person they are voting for in the “notes” section.

The department that raises the most money will earn bragging rights as the No Shave November “Stache-Off” Champion.
