Senior Named Conference Setter Of The Week After Leading Bobcats To Two Shutout Victories

TXST has collected seven weekly awards this season, which ranks second in the Sun Belt.

New Orleans – Erin Hoppe was honored as the Sun Belt Conference Setter of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

The senior from McKinney, Texas, drove the Texas State volleyball team to a pair of sweeps this past weekend over Arkansas State and Little Rock. The captain has led the Bobcats to a conference-best 20 victories this season.

Hoppe dished out 13.5 assists per set (81 total), while pacing an offensive attack that posted 14.83 kills per set on a .275 attack percentage. She began her weekend with a match-high 45 assists against A-State before registering another match-best 36 against LR. The Red Wolves suffered just their second shutout loss during conference play this season (both by TXST), and they also saw their seven-match win streak come to a close.

Additionally, Hoppe added 15 digs, six blocks, two kills and one ace.

The Sun Belt Preseason Setter of the Year is the only player in the conference to win the setter of the week award at least three times in 2017. The laurel is also the fifth of her career.

Hoppe leads the SBC at 11.15 assists per set this season, and she also quarterbacks a Bobcat squad that leads the league in hitting percentage (.253), kills (14.85) and assists (14.05).

TXST has collected seven weekly awards this season, which ranks second in the Sun Belt. Other award winners include junior Madison Daigle (Defensive, Sept. 11), sophomore Amy Pflughaupt (Offensive, Oct. 9), sophomore Micah Dinwiddie (Defensive, Oct. 23) and freshman Tyeranee Scott (Freshman, Oct. 23).

Texas State (20-8, 11-2 SBC) is set to face UTA (12-14, 6-7 SBC) at 6:30 p.m. tonight inside College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
