Shop Downtown SMTX on Small Business Saturday

Kick off the holiday shopping season with Small Business Saturday. The San Marcos Main Street Program is providing incentives and hosting an event from noon until 5 p.m. Nov. 28 to encourage shoppers to visit downtown and shop local during National Small Business Saturday.

Small Business Saturday is the kick off to the holiday season downtown, with complimentary gift-wrapping for purchases made downtown and free hot cocoa at the Main Street office located at 317 N. LBJ Drive. Customers can win downtown prizes by bringing their receipts to the Main Street office to enter in the “Gift Wraffle”; more receipts mean more chances to win.

Hidden downtown in several businesses are “Elfies” for shoppers to find. If you find an “Elfie” be sure to take a “selfie” with it and post it on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtags: #ElfieSelfie & #LoveSMTX to win prizes.

Downtown will be lit up for the holidays at dusk. Come out and enjoy the season and the community of downtown San Marcos.

For more information, or to volunteer at this event, contact the Main Street Office at (512) 393-8430 or mainstreet@sanmarcostx.gov.

Small Business Saturday began on Nov. 27, 2010, encouraging people to support small, local businesses. Since then, it has become nationally recognized. In 2014, an estimated $14.3 billion was spent at independent, small businesses on Small Business Saturday.
