Winners from the De Zavala and Hernandez Elementary Schools’ Geography Awareness Week Poster Contest were recently recognized for this year’s student projects: “Explore the Power of Parks.” The theme allowed the students to explore parks around the country in celebration of the 100 Year Celebration of the National Park Service. Land all around the country was preserved and protected as National Parks for future generations to enjoy.
According to San Marcos CISD GT Facilitator Carol Fernandez, the posters were displayed at the Geography Department at Texas State University where students and faculty had the opportunity to vote on their favorites. Students were awarded prizes from TAGE (Texas Alliance for Geographic Education)
