SM Events For Memorial Weekend: Get Wet – Cool Off – Have Fun!

The City of San Marcos will observe the Memorial Day weekend with special events and city office closures.

On Friday, May 22, the City Clerk’s Passport and Vitals Services will close at 1 p.m. Office hours on that day will be 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Memorial Day ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23 at the San Marcos City Cemetery, 1001 Ranch Road 12 hosted by American Legion Post 144 and Boy Scout Troop 112; and on Monday, May 25 at the Hays County Veterans Memorial, also at 10 a.m.

City of San Marcos offices, including City Hall, Library, Activity Center, Nature Center, Municipal Court and Utility Offices, will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day. Texas Disposal Systems will operate its usual Monday trash and recycling collection routes.

“While people are out enjoying the holiday weekend, we would like to remind our residents and visitors that all litter on the ground, no matter how small, washes into the San Marcos River,” said Amy Kirwin, Solid Waste Coordinator. “ChallengeSMTX is still going. Pick up a piece of litter, put it in the correct bin—either recycling or trash, take a photo and post it on social media with the hashtag #challengeSMTX to help spread the word!”
