Humanities Texas Exhibit: “The Way Things Were: Texas Settlers and Their Buildings, 1860s to 1930s”
October 15 through November 15—The San Marcos Public Library hosts The Way Things Were: Texas Settlers and Their Buildings, 1860s–1930s. This exhibit looks to early Texas buildings for insight into settlers’ visions of community and progress and their accommodation to the physical demands and economic realities of everyday life. This exhibit is made possible in part with a grant from Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Learning Plant Family Patterns: Aster Family
Thursday, November 13—Learn to identify wildflowers and weeds using plant family patterns as your guide in a botany workshop for gardeners and foragers at the San Marcos Public Library from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Presenter Emily Bradford is an apothecary manager at the Wildflower School of Botanical Medicine.

Thursday, November 20—Adults curious about practicing meditation are invited to a workshop with Heather Martin at the San Marcos Public Library at 7:00 p.m. Martin, a meditation teacher with more than 10 years of experience in the Zen tradition, teaches meditation techniques suitable for beginners.
