San Marcos Academy students recently presented a check for $1151.50 to the Central Texas Medical Center Foundation to support breast cancer awareness and prevention programs at the CTMC Women’s Center for Breast Health.
As a partner in CTMC’s “think pink” initiatives, the SMA Student Ambassadors sponsored several fund-raising events during the fall semester, selling pink-out t-shirts, baked goods and other items. This is the eighth year that the Academy Ambassadors have supported the CTMC Foundation.
The donation was presented to Dr. Corey C. Carothers, chairman of the CTMC Foundation Board of Directors and an Academy parent.
The CTMC Foundation was established in 1982 as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization to raise philanthropic funds for improving programs, facilities and services available through the CTMC health ministry.
During Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, CTMC joins forces with a number of Hays County organizations in an annual series of events and activities to provide much needed free mammograms and to raise awareness/funds in the local fight against cancer.
