SMART Group Hosts SMCISD School Board Candidate Forum

San Marcos, Texas – School Board elections will be on the May ballot and once again it is time to hear from the SMCISD’s contenders’ vision for the School District.
On Monday, April 6th, The San Marcos Area Republican Texans Group (SMART Group) will host a question and answer forum for SMCISD Board candidates beginning at 6pm at the San Marcos Police Department Auditorium, 2300 IH 35.
This cost-free event is to help voters make informed decisions about the May School Board election and offer the candidates an opportunity to introduce themselves and share their vision for the future of the school district.
“The success of our community depends on the quality of its schools and the School Board is where that success begins. People moving into our Community are looking for homes for their families and good schools to send their children. We need Trustees who will make decisions that will make academic performance, teachers, and transparency a priority,” stated Naomi Narvaiz, SMART Group President.
To date, all but one candidate for the At Large seats has confirmed participation in the forum. Sophia Downing, Adam Gonzalez, Anne Halsey, Toby Hooper, John McGlothlin, and Michael Occhialini . Both Candidates for District 1, Juan Miguel Arredondo and Danny Gonzales have both confirmed.
The forum will be conducted in a non-partisan fashion and community members are encouraged to attend to meet the Candidates and learn more about this year’s candidates for SMCISD School Board. For more information, email to smrepublicans@live.com or call 512-364-0050
