SMCISD Announces The Hiring Of Three New Principals

The three new principals are for Bonham Pre-K, Travis Elementary and Rodriguez Elementary Schools.

The San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the hiring of three new principals for the 2018-2019 school year.

Jennifer Gonzalez will be joining the San Marcos CISD Family as the new principal of Bonham Pre-K. 

Gonzalez served as a dual language kindergarten teacher, intervention teacher, Pre-k-2nd grade bilingual summer school principal and an assistant principal before being hired to lead SMCISD’s youngest learners.

Scott Masini will be making a return to the great state of Texas from St. Paul Minnesota as the principal of Travis Elementary.

Masini most recently held the position of principal of Bruce F. Vento Elementary School and will join the Travis team with 24 years of education experience.

Kash Greathouse will transition from assistant principal of Owen Goodnight Middle School to the position of principal at Rodriguez Elementary.

Greathouse will bring his experience as an elementary teacher, assistant principal and summer school principal to launch the opening of San Marcos CISD’s newest elementary – set to open in the Fall of 2019.

Bonham Pre-K: Jennifer Gonzalez

Jennifer Gonzalez began her career in Northeast ISD in San Antonio, TX. She taught kindergarten at Windcrest Elementary for three years before moving to Buda, TX in 2009. Gonzalez then joined Hays CISD and served in multiple capacities.

During her nine years with Hays CISD, Gonzalez served as a dual language kindergarten teacher, intervention teacher, Pre-K- 2nd grade bilingual summer school principal, and an assistant principal.

She was a part of a number of innovative initiatives in Hays CISD including a successful turnaround plan at a second year improvement required campus. Gonzalez will be joining San Marcos CISD as principal of Bonham Pre-K after 12 years in education.

Gonzalez grew up Castroville, TX a small town west of San Antonio. She received her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in Elementary Education, and a master of education degree from Lamar University in Educational Administration.

As a school leader, Gonzalez is excited to collaborate with a diverse group of people to meet the common goal of increasing student achievement and well-being.

Her educational philosophy is based on his uncompromising belief that all students can learn, given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, a committed and focused educational team, supportive families, and an encouraging community.

Gonzalez enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. She lives in San Marcos with her husband, Rudy Gonzalez, and two children, Lena (6) and Graciela (2). ?

Travis Elementary: Scott Masini

Scott Masini began his education career as an Elementary Teacher in Alief, Texas where he taught 3rd and 4th grade. 

He then moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where he spent most of his twenty-four years in Education.

In Minnesota, Masini began teaching 2nd grade for six years.  He was then asked to become a Teacher on Special Assignment for five years.

Thereafter, Masini served as an assistant principal for five years.  Most recently, he has held the seat of Principal of Bruce F. Vento Elementary School in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Masini earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Minnesota State University – Mankato, and master of education degree from Capella University in Minnesota.

Scott is excited to return to the great state of Texas and join the wonderful community of San Marcos.

SMCISD newest elementary school –  Rodriguez Elementary: Kash Greathouse

Kash Greathouse began his career in San Marcos CISD as an elementary teacher at James Bowie Elementary for three years.

Following his years as a teacher, he spent three years as an assistant principal, one year at Gonzales Junior High school and two at Owen Goodnight Middle School, respectively.

Greathouse is passionate about seeing young people grow. His educational philosophy is believing that all students are unique in their own way and require nurturing for them to maximize their full potential.

He looks forward to working with students, parents, teachers, and community members on setting extraordinary goals for student learning and academic achievement.

Greathouse grew up in Gonzales, Texas, and received his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Texas Lutheran University.

He then went on to earn a master of elementary education degree from Texas State University. Greathouse and his wife, Lexie, have a son, Korben.
