SMCISD Holds Ribbon Cutting For New Transportation Annex

On Monday, March 11, the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District board of trustees and local officials gathered to celebrate the completion of a new transportation annex on E. De Zavala Dr.

The new annex will allow the school district to transport students to and from school easier and earlier as well as maintain the district’s buses.

Clem Cantu, President of the SMCISD Board of Trustees, said she wanted to thank the voters because they were the ones who had made the new transportation annex possible.

Members of the SMCISD’s transportation staff, SMCISD students, members of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce and Mayor Jane Hughson were present to celebrate the annex’s opening.

The annex is one of several projects included in a $107.3 bond package approved by voters in 2017; the district has already begun the renovation process on campuses throughout the district.

All projects are projected to be completed by September 2020.
