San Marcos CISD welcomes Benjamin Grijalva as the new Bilingual Coordinator for the District. He brings many years of educational experience, most recently as an assistant principal and summer school principal in Seguin ISD. Prior to that, Grijalva was a summer school principal and a Dual Language teacher with New Braunfels ISD.
He was a bilingual kindergarten teacher in San Marcos CISD in 2008 and a Head Start Pre-K bilingual teacher for Community Action, Inc. in San Marcos before that.
Grijalva earned an Associate’s Degree from El Paso Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree from Park University in El Paso, a Master’s Degree from Texas State University, and is anticipating his earning a Doctoral Degree in School Improvement from Texas State in December 2016. He holds several certifications, and was a co-recipient of the University Council on Educational Administration (UCEA) Excellence in Educational Leadership Award in 2012.
He looks forward to being a part of the SMCISD family again, saying, “I am excited to join the San Marcos CISD and committed to serve the children and the families of this beautiful community. I also look forward to collaborating with our teachers, administrators, district personnel and community partners to align our services and better serve the needs of all our students.”
