SMCISD Recognizes Work Of Trustees

Posted by Staff

Each January, San Marcos CISD joins public schools across the nation in recognizing the contributions of a very special group of volunteers: the school board members. Not often thought of as volunteers, they do in fact volunteer to serve. School board members give of their time, energy, and counsel to the children of the community – without pay. They take on the job of governing the district and making the best decisions they can for our children with the full understanding that they will only receive satisfaction for a job well done.

Throughout the month of January, San Marcos CISD school children are preparing tokens of appreciation, and schools announce their thankfulness on marquees and public announcements. On Monday, January 26, 2015, SMCISD will host a reception in recognition of our trustees from 5:30 – 6:00 pm, just prior to the regular scheduled month board meeting at 6 pm, in the Central Office Boardroom, 501 S. LBJ Drive, in San Marcos. A string quartet from the SMCISD Orchestra will perform during the reception, and light refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend.

The current trustees include President Kathy Hansen, Vice President Dr. Judy Allen, Secretary Margie Villalpando, and members Lupe Costilla, John Crowley, Danny Gonzales, and Paul Mayhew.
