SMCISD – Science Fair Project Advances To State
 
San Marcos High School junior Linda Felina Torres competed the weekend of February 21, 2015, in the Alamo Regional Area Science Fair in San Antonio, bringing home 5th place honors in her division. This ranking makes her eligible to compete in the state competition in March. Torres was offered scholarships from Schreiner’s College and Texas Tech University. Her project is in the Botany category and involves identifying genes responsible for the development of lateral roots of plants.
