The San Marcos Fire Department is hosting the 2015 Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service Leadership Development Symposium at the Embassy Suites – San Marcos Conference Center, 1001 E. McCarty Lane, next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, January 12-14, 2015. Opening ceremonies begin at 7:45 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12 in the conference center’s Veramendi Ballroom.

This event is at no cost and open to all Texas resident emergency responders. Those wishing to attend may register in person at the San Marcos Conference Center.

“This event features a wide variety of speakers and presentations that will appeal to people in all levels of leadership in the community,” said Fire Chief Les Stephens. “I believe you will find there is something for just about everyone.”

Some of the courses pertain specifically to the fire service, but many are applicable to anyone in or aspiring to a leadership role. Speakers include Jim Parker, former CEO of Southwest Airlines; Retired U.S. Army Colonel John Antal; Kelli Peck-Parrott, PhD and generational expert from Texas A&M; renowned motivational speaker Mike Lipkin; and many others.

So far, more than 900 people from all across the United States have pre-registered for the event.
