SMHS Choir Hears The Sweet Sounds Of Success

“We are so proud of the way they practiced and supported each other,” Dawn Sheridan-Reinhuber, San Marcos HS Choir Director, and Brigitte Smith, Choir Co-Director, said. “We want to thank the students for that!”

On Saturday, October 13, 42 students from the San Marcos High School Choir Department went to Churchill High School in San Antonio for the Texas Music Educators Association Region 12 Choir competition.

Thirty-eight of the students were selected for a Region 12 Region choir; thirteen students will be moving on to the Pre-Area auditions on Tuesday, November 27.

“We are so proud of the way they practiced and supported each other,” Dawn Sheridan-Reinhuber, San Marcos HS Choir Director, and Brigitte Smith, choir co-director, said. “We want to thank the students for that!”

Texas Lutheran University will host the Region Choir Clinic and Concert on November 10 at 5:00 PM. Residents and parents are welcome to attend the concert; admission is free.

The Texas Music Educators Association began in 1920 as the Texas Band Teachers Association. It encompasses over 12,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education. The organization is comprised of five divisions: band, orchestra, vocal, elementary and college.
