SMPD Arrests Suspect At Uptown Square Apartments For Violation Of Protective Order

Staff Reports

On Sunday, June 14, the San Marcos Police Department responded to a violation of protective order at an Uptown Square Apartment around 11:06 PM.

Officials said when officers arrived on the scene, they heard a verbal disturbance inside between a male, identified as Juan Lazcano, and a female; once officers knocked on the door, the arguing stopped, and the door was locked by someone inside.

Officers attempted to make contact with the subjects via phone but were unable to.

According to police, officers arrested Lazcano for Assault, Resisting Arrest, and Interfering with an Emergency Call at the same Uptown Square apartment on Thursday, June 11.

An emergency protective order was filed against him following his initial arrest.

According to officials, the victim lives in the location, but Lazcano does not.

“Due to the belief that Lazcano was inside the apartment with the prior assault victim, known to have violent tendencies and possibly not letting the victim come to the door, SWAT was called to the scene,” officials said. “Multiple investigative approaches were taken in an attempt to verify the female’s welfare. After exhausting all other lesser uses of force and believing the female was still in danger, SWAT made forced entry into the apartment. Both individuals were located inside.”

Lazcano was arrested for Violation of Protective Order and Interfering with Public Duties, and the female victim was unharmed, officials said.
