SMPD Arrests Suspect In Car Burglary

Early Monday morning, the San Marcos Police Department arrested a San Marcos man for burglary of a vehicle.

Around 5:16 a.m. Monday, police responded to a 911 call about a burglary in progress on Field Street. Responding police officers later arrested 22-year-old Byron K. Jackson after a brief foot chase from Field Street to Hopkins Street.

According to police, a credit card and two debit cards issued to other individuals were found on the suspect at the time of his arrest.

Jackson has been charged with burglary of a vehicle, evading arrest, fraud and criminal trespassing. There is a warrant for Jackson’s arrest; however, the charges are unknown.

The suspect was reported, Tuesday, to be held in Hays County Jail under a bond of $30,500. There have been similar crimes throughout the neighborhood; as of yet, it is unknown if Jackson is tied to them.
