SMPD Chief’s Advisory Panel to meet this week

The San Marcos Police Department Chief’s Advisory Panel will host a virtual public meeting beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3. Public meetings with the Advisory Panel are held on a quarterly basis.

The Chief’s Advisory Panel aims to assist in the development of community policing strategies and concepts by gathering feedback and building trust.

“This important meeting exemplifies the San Marcos Police Department’s commitment to continuous improvement and community engagement,” said Chief Stan Standridge.

The meeting will provide an overview of SMPD’s response to the recent winter weather event, followed by a thorough examination of the 2020 bias-based policing report submitted to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

The meeting will also cover the most recent Cite & Release data obtained, in compliance with City of San Marcos Ordinance No. 2020-18. Members of the public can view the data on the City’s website at www.sanmarcostx.gov/citerelease.
