SMPD Eliminates Five Persons Of Interest In Recent Home Invasion/Sexual Assault Cases

Staff Reports

On Tuesday, the San Marcos Police Department released an update regarding the investigation into three home invasions/sexual assault cases.

Police said they have been able to rule out five persons of interest thanks to tips submitted to the department’s investigating officers and through social media.

According to police, they are increasing patrols in the area where the assaults occurred and near student apartment complexes.

Police advised residents to remember to lock all their doors and windows to ensure their own protection against intruders.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact Detective Campbell at 512-753-2312, dcampbell@sanmarcostx.gov, or Detective Aubry at 512-753-2306.

SMPD will be releasing daily updates regarding the investigation at 4:00 PM. On Monday, the San Marcos Police Investigative Team met this morning to discuss strategies and to follow up on leads obtained during the investigation and through members of the public via social media.

SMPD is enlisting the help of the Texas DPS Rangers and members of the FBI Central Texas Violent Crimes Task Force (CTVCTF) who have been assisting closely with the investigation since the first reported incident on April 24.
