SMPD Investigates Attempt At Armed Robbery

Anyone with any information is urged to call investigators at 512-753-2300 or Crime Stoppers at 800-353-Tips.

San Marcos Police Department is investigating an attempt at robbery since Saturday morning.

Around 2:30 a.m., SMPD responded to a 911 call from a convenience store at 1550 interstate 35. The clerk told police a suspect had entered and revealed a handgun in his waistband.

The suspect is reported to have fled after the clerk pointed a handgun at him in response. SMPD received help from the Hays County K-9 unit to set up a perimeter and search the surrounding woods.

No suspect was found. The attempt at robbery marks the third armed robbery incident in San Marcos.

Two men were reported to have held up the America Advance payday lending shop on July 19. On July 15, a man reported he had been robbed near Zelicks; the suspect was said to have been wearing all black.

Anyone with any information is urged to call investigators at 512-753-2300 or Crime Stoppers at 800-353-Tips.
