SMPD actively investigating fatal train and pedestrian collision

SAN MARCOS — The San Marcos Police Department (SMPD) and San Marcos Fire Department (SMFD) are currently investigating a fatal train and pedestrian collision near the railroad tracks on CM Allen Parkway. Police ask that people avoid the area if possible, since there is still an active investigation taking place.
 
At 7 p.m. SMPD provided an update, stating that CM Allen Parkway near Children’s Park will remain closed to thru traffic for several hours as police conduct their investigation.
 
SMPD says that Traffic is very heavy near the intersection of CM Allen and Hopkins. If possible, please continue to avoid the area by using Aquarena or Wonder World Drive.
