SMPD Opens Registration For Fall Citizen Police Academy

The instruction is comprehensive, covering different facets of police work. Each block of instruction is presented by law enforcement professionals.

The San Marcos Police Department will begin its Fall Citizen Police Academy classes on Thursday, August 16, 2018 in the auditorium at the San Marcos Police Department, located at 2300 S IH-35.

The Citizen’s Police Academy is a 14- week course that offers citizens a unique view into how police officers perform their duties and serve the community.

The instruction is comprehensive, covering different facets of police work. Each block of instruction is presented by law enforcement professionals. Classes meet on Thursday evenings, 6-9 p.m. at the San Marcos Police Department. Two classes, police driving and shooting are held on Saturdays.

The CPA is free of charge. All materials need for the course are provided by the San Marcos Police Department.
Who may attend?

The citizen’s police academy is open to all San Marcos residents, business owners and their employees who wish to attend. Eligible persons must be 18 years of age and pass a criminal history check.

Applications are available online at www.sanmarcostx.gov/cpa. The San Marcos Police Department encourages interested persons to submit their applications as soon as possible. Class size is limited.
