SMPD responds to auto-pedestrian fatality

SAN MARCOS – The San Marcos Police Department responded to a major accident at Hunter Road/Quarry Springs Road on Saturday, Oct. 9. At approximately 9:49 p.m., a driver encountered a pedestrian in the roadway between Poco Loco and Sienna Point Apartments.

The driver tried to take evasive action but struck the pedestrian, identified as 62-year-old Lori Mcnabb. First responders provided medical aid at the scene and Mcnabb was taken to a local hospital, but she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.

Hunter Road was closed during the investigation, which determined that the driver was not under the influence at the time of the crash. The driver was released from the scene.
