Staff Reports

On Tuesday, the San Marcos City Council approved $200,000 of Community Development Block Grant – Covid-19 funding to the Chamber Economic Development program.

The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce will launch Revive SMTX in collaboration with the city, which will host the program and provide local businesses with federal funds to help them through the pandemic.

Applicants will be eligible to receive up to $5,000 per business; the funds can be used for operation safety, sanitation training, personal protective equipment, and digital redesign for social distancing.

The application process will begin in the coming weeks, according to the chamber. Businesses are advised to keep an eye on www.revivesmtx.com and submit their contact information to receive updates as they are released.

  • A one time $5000 grant. That's won't go far. Its more like a gold star given to a elementary student. It looks nice. You feel warm, but it won't actually change anything.

Stop handing out cash and get out of the way. Let these business operate.
