Soccer Receives United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics & Sportsmanship Silver Award

Teams honored at the gold (1-10 percent), silver (11-30 percent) and bronze (31-50 percent) levels are based on a percentage calculated by the total number of cards received by players/coaches divided by the team’s total number of games played.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Texas State soccer team received the United Soccer Coaches Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Silver Award. The award is given to teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game.

A total of 104 men’s and women’s collegiate programs received the award that is given out at four levels. Teams honored at the platinum level went an entire season without a player or coach receiving a yellow or red card.

Teams honored at the gold (1-10 percent), silver (11-30 percent) and bronze (31-50 percent) levels are based on a percentage calculated by the total number of cards received by players/coaches divided by the team’s total number of games played.

The Bobcats were carded four times during the team’s 20 matches for a percentage of 20.0. Two of the cards came during the first four matches while the final two occurred in the Sun Belt Tournament. TXST went 13 consecutive matches without a card and were the only team in the Sun Belt not to pick up one during conference play.

A total of 11 Division I women’s programs received one of the four awards. Joining the Bobcats in picking up the accolade were Air Force, Bryant, Florida Atlantic, Hofstra, Maine, Nicholls, South Carolina, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas A&M and Winthrop.
