Sound Physicians Agree To Provide Services To CTMC

CENTRAL TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER AND SOUND PHYSICIANS ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE HOSPITALIST SERVICES

Sound Physicians will provide in-hospital care to patients 24x7x365

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS —Central Texas Medical Center (CTMC) today announced that the hospital has partnered with a new hospitalist group, Sound Physicians, to provide in-hospital care for the thousands of patients the hospital admits each year. Sound Physicians is a leading national physician founded and led organization focused on improving quality throughout the acute episode of care. The group will provide around-the-clock service and are specially trained to care for patients during hospital stays.

Dr. Michael Statton will serve as Co-Chief of the group alongside Co-Chief Dr. Mark “Andy” McElhannon, and will assume his duties at the San Marcos-based hospital on September 8. He will be joined by five additional physicians at the onset of the program with the intent of adding additional doctors as the hospital census dictates.

“During a hospital stay, a patient can have complex medical issues that should be managed with careful attention,” said Anthony Stahl, PhD., president and CEO at CTMC. “A Hospitalist devotes all of their effort to the care of the patient while in the hospital and can coordinate all of the different elements they might require. I’m very pleased that our patients will be receiving the highest quality of care with the Sound Physician group.”

“Partnering with CTMC is a great fit for Sound Physicians,” said Robert Bessler, M.D., chief executive officer for Sound Physicians. “Both organizations focus on providing the highest quality care for our patients. We’re confident that our experience and expertise will drive outstanding results and outcomes.”

In addition to providing outstanding care while in the hospital, Sound Physicians will also communicate with the patient’s family doctor so that all of their information, diagnoses, care plans, medications and follow-up instructions are available after discharge.
