Special Weather Advisory: Hot Conditions Forecast Today Through The Weekend

Hot Conditions Forecast Today through the Weekend…

Afternoon heat index values today and Wednesday are forecast to reach 104 to 107 degrees in many areas. A few locations along the Rio Grande and Coastal Plains could briefly experience heat index values near 110 degrees both afternoons.

Heat index values and air temperatures are forecast to increase further Thursday through the weekend, and a series of Heat Advisories are likely.

Residents are encouraged to take appropriate precautions to prevent heat related illnesses. Plan strenuous outdoor activities during the early morning or late evening. Drink plenty of water, wear light weight and light colored clothing, and take frequent breaks from the heat.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Remember to check on your elderly neighbors, friend and family
