Special Weather Statement Issued by the National Weather Service

WIND GUSTS OF 35 TO 40 MPH EXPECTED TODAY FOLLOWED BY WIDESPREAD FREEZING TEMPERATURES FRIDAY MORNING…

 

A STRONG COLD FRONT IS BEGINNING TO MOVE THROUGH THE AREA FROM THE NORTH THIS MORNING. STRONG WINDS AND WELL-BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED THROUGH THE DAY.

 

SUSTAINED WINDS WILL BE 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 35 TO 40 MPH THROUGH THE MORNING AND AFTERNOON.

 

A WIND ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 6AM THROUGH 4PM. DRIVING OF HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES WILL BE DIFFICULT.

 

WINDS WILL DECREASE THROUGH THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. FOLLOWING THE DECREASE IN WINDS THIS EVENING, WIDESPREAD FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTH-CENTRAL TEXAS FRIDAY MORNING.

 

LOCATIONS IN THE HILL COUNTRY AND THE SOUTHERN EDWARDS PLATEAU WILL EXPERIENCE A HARD FREEZE AS TEMPERATURES FALL INTO THE MID-20S.

 

UPPER 20S AND LOW 30S ARE EXPECTED MOST OTHER LOCATIONS ACROSS THE I-35 CORRIDOR, THE SOUTHERN COASTAL PLAINS, AND INTO THE RIO GRANDE PLAINS.

 

PLEASE TAKE THIS TIME TO PREPARE AND PROTECT OUTDOOR PETS, LIVESTOCK, PLANTS, AND VULNERABLE PIPES. A FREEZE WARNING WILL BE ISSUED LATER THIS AFTERNOON FOR FRIDAY MORNING.
