Splash Coworking To Host Mural Reveal Closing Reception For Naveen Shakil

Murals can enliven an otherwise drab alley or parking lot and add to the character and sense of place in a community, and can also beautify an area by covering and preventing graffiti.

Staff Reports

On June 29, Splash Coworking will host a mural reveal closing reception for international artist, Naveen Shakil’s talented work.

Members of the community are invited to join Splash Coworking to watch Shakil place the final golden touches on her work.

Shakil is a senior designer for the Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and has a background in architecture.

According to Splash Coworking, “she has brought high caliber perspective, skill and interpretation to the composition and design of her mural.”

Shakil visited San Marcos briefly in the fall of 2017; during her opening reception, she met local residents and was able to incorporate her experience and understanding of San Marcos into her mural.

The cool waters of the San Marcos river “gave her truth to the essence of San Marcos and the identity the community shares with the river.”

The reception will begin at 6:30 PM; attendees are advised to have prompt attendance in order to see the final touches go on and the cheers to the project’s completion. A group picture will be taken immediately after the “final signature golden touch.”

Snacks, provided by Café Azteca, will be available for purchase. The mural was made possible by the City of San Marcos mural program and Craft Hustler.
