Spotlight On Opera To Perform At Library Sunday

Spotlight on Opera, founded in 2007 by Program Director Cindy Sadler, began as a one week summer program at St. Edward’s University.

Bringing music and culture into the library, Spotlight on Opera will present highlights from their entire season, including excerpts from The Elixir of Love, Trouble in Tahiti, The Child and the Spells, Prince Orlovsky’s Ball, The Coyotes & The Rabbits, and a few surprises.

This concert will include a full ensemble cast and showcase a variety of styles. All ages are welcome, and this is a perfect opportunity to introduce new listeners to the magic of opera. The performance begins on Sunday, July 16 at 2:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, July 26 Spotlight on Opera returns with two performances of The Coyotes and The Rabbits, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Laugh and learn with a bilingual children’s opera by Hector Armienta, based on a popular Mexican folk tale.

Two coyote cousins, love chasing rabbits, but bunny sisters, Chiquita and Banana trick them at every turn. These performances are generously sponsored in honor of L. Dianne Murray.
