Spring Shindig 2016 for LBJ Museum

The event, featuring TV newsman Fred Cantu as emcee, benefits the LBJ Museum of San Marcos. The museum is dedicated to the impact of President Lyndon Johnson’s early years in San Marcos as a college student on his future achievements in civil rights, voting rights, and education.

 

Individual tickets are $90 each and may be purchased online at www.lbjmuseum.com/springshindig or at the LBJ Museum, 131 N. Guadalupe Street, San Marcos. All tickets must be purchased in advance.

 
Spring Shindig guests will enjoy reserved parking and seating in the Live Oak Grove at LBJ’s Texas White House.  Sponsorships are available with VIP parking, prime seating and special perks for guests.

 

Spring Shindig 2016 features:

  • Luci Johnson and Lynda Johnson Robb as honorary chairs
  • Michael Martin Murphey on stage, opening performances with Jan Seides and Ryan Scott Travis
  • Fred Cantu, noted TV newsman from Austin, emcee
  • Kent Black’s famous BBQ
  • Wine and beer tasting from Hill Country wineries and breweries
  • Live auction with entertaining auctioneer Jill Herbert
  • The Live Oak Grove at the LBJ National Park on the banks of the PedernalesRiver

Spring Shindig 2016 will benefit the Claudia Taylor (Lady Bird) Johnson Endowment, supporting the museum’s exhibits and archives. The museum highlights the years President Johnson spent as a college student at Texas State University in San Marcos and as a teacher in South Texas and how those experiences influenced his public career, especially in the areas of civil rights and education.

 

The endowment honors Lady Bird Johnson’s significant contributions to his political career and her own considerable national legacy.
