St. David’s Foundation Awards $20K Grant To LOHP Community Clinic

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS – For the second consecutive year, the St. David’s Foundation awarded a $20,000 grant to the Live Oak Health Partners Community Clinic. The money will be used to help unfunded patients receive needed medications and/or help purchase disposable medical supplies used to treat unfunded patients.

“We are very grateful to the St. David’s Foundation for graciously funding us with this grant for a second time,” said LOHP Community Clinic Director Regina Henderson. “We will be able to supply medications and medical supplies to more than 100 patients.”

The Live Oak Health Partners Community Clinic serves the low-income, uninsured residents of Hays County who do not qualify for federal or state health assistance programs.

According to Henderson, the most common illnesses seen at the clinic are diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia – conditions that can be effectively managed through maintenance medications and monitoring supplies.

“We have found that many of our patients do not have the resources to purchase diabetes syringes, pen needles, glucometers, lancets, testing strips and blood pressure cuffs used to control and monitor these conditions,” Henderson said. “The funding will allow us to purchase these supplies for our patients, which will help them to better manage their health care.”
