On Wednesday, Nov. 7, the Austin District of the Texas Department of Transportation prepared for ice and snow events this winter by conducting a winter weather preparedness exercise this week.
The district’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activated and crews in the field reported to their staging areas.
The exercise was intended to help ensure the district has the proper manpower, equipment and supplies at the ready for inclement weather events such as snow or ice.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures in the Austin Metro area are expected to reach the high 50s by Veterans Day, Sunday, November 11. In addition, there is a 40 percent chance of rain on Thursday, November 8. The high is expected to be in the low sixties for its high.
