Suspicious Item Found In Spring Lake Preserve

 

The Austin Bomb Squad bomb used a detonation device at around 8:30 p.m. to destroy the item.

San Marcos Police Department and San Marcos Fire Department responded to a call about 6:30 p.m. after three hikers discovered the suspicious item near the Blue Stem Trail.  The Austin Bomb Squad was called as a precaution. 

The bomb squad used a detonation device at around 8:30 p.m. to destroy the item, and then made the determination that it was not an explosive. 
 
Hays County EMS, Texas State University Police, Austin Police Department, Austin Fire Department and Austin EMS all assisted with the call. 
 
According to San Marcos PD the scene was cleared at 9:00 p.m.
