BREAKING: Teen Drowns In UTV accident In Wimberley Area

The accident occurred around 3:30 PM on Sunday, September 2, on private property in the Wimberley area.


On September 2, 2018, at approximately 3:30 PM, the Hays County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 10000 block of FM 2325 in Wimberley, TX, to assist Wimberley EMS on a possible drowning call.

The investigation revealed that the victim, later pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace Andy Cable, had been a passenger in a Polaris RZR a utility task vehicle (UTV).

The operator of the UTV lost control causing the UTV to roll over into a retention pond. The deceased, a white male, was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The victim has been identified as Cooper David Potts, White Male, 16 years of age, Katy, TX resident.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s office has determined the cause of death as a drowning.

No other injuries were reported. The accident occurred on private property.
