Texas Comptroller’s Office Launches Redesigned, Website

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today announced a new look for the agency’s website, which now features a more intuitive and customer service-focused design; a powerful, enhanced search function that delivers faster and more accurate results; and an all-new responsive framework that creates a rich mobile experience for phone and tablet users.

“The new Comptroller.Texas.Gov demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing taxpayers with government that is efficient and responsive,” Hegar said. “I’m particularly proud of our new business center that puts our most common agency functions front and center, allowing Texans to file and pay taxes, search for unclaimed property, explore state spending and much more. The tools taxpayers use most are now just a click away.”

In 2015, the agency website received more than 30 million pageviews by taxpayers, business owners, local governments, researchers, journalists and citizens. After surveying thousands of website users, Comptroller staff worked tirelessly to incorporate customer and taxpayer feedback and create Comptroller.Texas.Gov. Features include:

  • Enhanced customer service: Quick access to help videos and key information will make it easier for taxpayers to do business on our site.
  • Streamlined automated processes: Economic and various tax data are displayed more intuitively and cleanly than ever before.
  • 508 compliance: Users with different visual abilities will have a quality experience.

The Comptroller’s office launched its first agency website in December 1994. Since then, agency executives created several more program-specific websites. Now those sites come together at Comptroller.Texas.Gov, which will truly be a one-stop shop for all agency needs. The new site seamlessly incorporates the information previously available at TexasTransparency.org, TexasAhead.org, KeepingTexasFirst.org, TheTexasEconomy.org, MatchthePromise.org and EveryChanceEveryTexan.org.

The agency has been conducting significant outreach over the summer months to ensure businesses, other government agencies and agency customers are aware of the new site launch. The Comptroller’s office also created an informative and humorous video announcing the launch, which can be viewed below:

Hegar added, “I’m proud of my staff for the amazing work they did in creating a website that’s better organized, more responsive and easier to use, and focused on our customers – the taxpayers of Texas.”
