Texas Music Office Continues To Work On Hurricane Harvey Relief Concerts

The Texas Music Flood initiative began with a single message to a group of organizers in the Texas and Red Dirt music community and has now grown to encompass venues in Arizona, Illinois, Oklahoma, Tennessee and London.

As Hurricane Harvey benefit concerts for all those affected by the storms massive devastation along the Texas Gulf Coast continue, the Texas Music Office continues to work behind the scenes on events both big and small to help direct fundraising to RebuildTX.org, and other certified nonprofits and charitable organizations. More than $12 million was raised at benefit concerts in September, and many more continue throughout October.

The TMO helped organize the Harvey Can’t Mess With Texas: A Benefit Concert for Hurricane Harvey Relief in Austin at the University of Texas’ Frank Erwin Center, helping raise $2 million for Rebuild Texas.

Additionally, the TMO worked on the George Strait portion of the Hand in Hand telethon which raised more than $10 million for Hurricane Harvey relief.

“The Texas Music Office could not be more proud of our Texas music industry community and their willingness to step up to assist their fellow Texans in their times of need,” said Brendon Anthony, Director of the Texas Music Office. “Through organizations like Texas Music Flood and Rebuild Texas the music industry will affect meaningful change for those affected by the this disaster.”

Anthony also spoke with Jesse Sendejas Jr. for his Houston Press article about the TMO’s recent work on Hurricane Harvey benefit concerts. You can read the full interview here.
