SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Texas State Athletics Department has announced the promotions for the 2018 Bobcat football season, including the first Throwback Game honoring the successes of the Southwest Texas State athletic programs.
Bobcat Stadium will also unveil two new, state-of-the-art videoboards for the 2018 season. For the first time since Texas State changed its name in 2003, the Bobcats will wear throwback uniforms as part of a special tribute to the teams from the Southwest Texas State era.
The throwback game will take place during the Homecoming game on October 27 against New Mexico State. Several throwback related activities are being planned, including special giveaways, recognitions and more.
Additionally, the athletic department is working with vendors and retailers to offer throwback merchandise to be sold throughout Homecoming week.
For each home game fans can expect the same great stadium atmosphere, including great performances by the World-Famous Texas State Strutters, the Texas State spirit program and the Bobcat Marching Band. Fan favorite activities such as tailgating, Coca-Cola Kids Fun Zone, fireworks, giveaways and more will also take place each week.
