Texas State 2018 Football Season Promotions Announced

For each home game fans can expect the same great stadium atmosphere, including great performances by the World-Famous Texas State Strutters, the Texas State spirit program and the Bobcat Marching Band.


SAN MARCOS, Texas –
The Texas State Athletics Department has announced the promotions for the 2018 Bobcat football season, including the first Throwback Game honoring the successes of the Southwest Texas State athletic programs.

Bobcat Stadium will also unveil two new, state-of-the-art videoboards for the 2018 season. For the first time since Texas State changed its name in 2003, the Bobcats will wear throwback uniforms as part of a special tribute to the teams from the Southwest Texas State era.

The throwback game will take place during the Homecoming game on October 27 against New Mexico State. Several throwback related activities are being planned, including special giveaways, recognitions and more.

Additionally, the athletic department is working with vendors and retailers to offer throwback merchandise to be sold throughout Homecoming week.

Fan favorite activities such as tailgating, Coca-Cola Kids Fun Zone, fireworks, giveaways and more will also take place each week.

Sept. 8 – vs. Texas Southern Sponsored by H-E-B

  • Texas State home opener at Bobcat Stadium
  • Special halftime performances by the and the Texas Southern Band and the Bobcat Marching Band
  • Recognition of the 20-year anniversary of the Texas State soccer program

Oct. 6 – vs. Louisiana

  • Family Weekend hosted by the Office of Parent & Family Relations
  • Breast Cancer Awareness Pink Game
  • Honoring the 2017-18 Texas State Track and Field Triple Crown Championship
  • Honoring the 2018 Sun Belt Conference champion Texas State softball program
  • Recognition of the 2008 conference championship football team

Oct. 11 – vs. Georgia Southern

  • ESPN’s Thursday Night College Football on ESPNU
  • High School Band Day featuring special performances from area high school bands alongside the Bobcat Marching Band
  • Faculty & Staff Appreciation Day welcoming the TXST campus community
  • Chamber of Commerce Day welcoming central Texas area Chambers of Commerce

Oct. 27 – vs. New Mexico State Sponsored by Greater Texas Federal Credit Union

  • Homecoming 2018 – A week of events and festivities for the campus and community
  • Throwback Game
  • Special halftime performance by the Texas State Strutters
  • Honoring the 2018 Texas State Homecoming royalty
  • Recognition of the 2018 Texas State Distinguished Alumni and Rising Stars

Nov. 10 – vs. Appalachian State Sponsored by Brown Distributing – Bud Light

  • Heroes & Veterans Day
  • Special active duty and veteran recognitions throughout the game
  • Fundraising efforts to support Honor Flight Austin
  • High School Cheer and Dance day in partnership with UCA
  • Alumni Band Day welcoming Bobcat Marching Band alumni

Nov. 24 – vs. Arkansas State Sponsored by Coca-Cola

  • Honoring the 2018 Texas State Football Senior Class Day
  • “T” Association Weekend featuring 2018 Hall of Honor Inductions at halftime
  • Mini Football Giveaway sponsored by Coca-Cola

Single game, half season and season tickets for the 2018 football season can be purchased here or by calling the Texas State Athletic Ticket Office at 512-245-2272.

Fans including alumni, former athletic alumni and donors can enjoy various hospitality options throughout Bobcat Stadium on gameday in areas such as the Paul and Pat Gowens Hospitality Pavilion or the Dan and Cindee Diepenhorst Champions Club in the Jerry and Linda Gregg Fields West Side Complex. Home games can be seen on KNVA Austin, ESPN3, ESPN+ or ESPNU. The online football schedule found at TxStateBobcats.com will identify which network the game can be viewed.
