Texas State Athletics improving fan experience with addition of comfortable priority seating at Bobcat Stadium

SAN MARCOS – Texas State Athletics has announced a new $1.7 million dollar football stadium enhancement project to revamp and improve the entire lower seating bowl on the west side of Bobcat Stadium before the start of the 2022 football season.

The project, which is the start to major improvements to Bobcat Stadium, replaces bleacher seating in sections 101-105 with 3,000 individual fixed chairs.  Each cushioned chair will include a personal cupholder and range in width between 19-21 inches. Ticket holders will enjoy increased leg room, providing a more comfortably spaced fan-friendly game-day seating experience. Aisle handrails will also be included in the project, making it easier for fans to reach their seats with unobstructed views of Jim Wacker Field.

Construction began in December and is on schedule to be completed for the 2022 campaign.

“We are very excited that this project is underway,” said Director of Athletics Don Coryell. “Functionally, this is something that we know our fans are going to appreciate. Aesthetically, it will be a major improvement to an already beautiful Bobcat Stadium.”

Ticket pricing and priority seating donation requirements will be released in March along with the full 2022 football schedule. All priority seating donation requirements will go towards the 2022 Bobcat Club donation and can lead to membership benefits, such as parking and pregame hospitality, that will enhance the game day experience.

The westside seating project is a part a larger effort to provide the football program with strategic resources, a modern fan experience, and major facility improvements. The next project for Bobcat Stadium is the South Endzone Complex expansion.

As part of Texas State University’s Next is Now Campaign, the upcoming priority for Texas State Athletics is securing private dollars to renovate, enhance and expand the South Endzone Complex for the Bobcat football program. Built in 2002, the South Endzone Complex is the hub to daily activities for Texas State student-athletes through training, nutrition, wellness, and recovery.

Through a feasibility study that identified key areas for improvement in the facility, the renovation will include a new and expanded weight room, a new training room, a repurposed weight room into individual meeting rooms, an increase in the footprint of the locker room, a renovated coaches locker room, hydrotherapy and cold pools, enhanced rehab equipment, and new technology in coaches’ offices and individual meeting rooms.

This will be the first comprehensive renovation to the football operations building since its inception. Once completed, the South Endzone Complex will greatly enhance the football program and the health and wellness of Texas State current and future student-athletes.
