Texas State Athletics Releases 2019 Soccer Schedule

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Texas State soccer head coach Kat Conner announced the release of the 2019 schedule on Thursday.

This Fall will see the Bobcats play nine matches at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

“To start the 2019 season, our non-conference schedule brings challenging games with different playing styles from our opponents,” said Conner. “This will help us to problem solve on the defensive end and to find that rhythm with each other in creating a multifaceted attack offensively.”

In preparation of defending its Sun Belt Conference regular season crown, TXST will play an exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 17, against Baylor in Waco, Texas.

The first regular season match takes place Aug. 23 against Incarnate Word in San Marcos. The Bobcats stay at home that Sunday to host Prairie View A&M.

On the 30th, the team travels down I-35 to take on rival UTSA. Kickoff in San Antonio is scheduled for 7 PM September starts off with a Sunday night match against Houston Baptist at the Bobcat Soccer Complex.

The next two weekends will see the Bobcats hit the road for three consecutive matches. First up is a trip to West Texas and Southern New Mexico for matches against UTEP (Sept. 6) and New Mexico State (Sept. 8), respectively.

Texas State then travels to the Pelican State for the final non-conference match year on the 13th at Northwestern State. That Sunday, the Bobcats return home to face McNeese in the final regular season non-conference contest at 1 p.m.

“The conference schedule is always demanding as every team in the Sun Belt is strong competition,” Conner stated. “Our win last year of the regular season title and solid showing in the Sun Belt Tournament Championship game means conference teams will be ready to give us their best performance. It should be a great season!”

Sun Belt play begins with three of the first five matches taking place on the road. TXST starts off with the program’s first-ever Thursday night match on the 19th against South Alabama in San Marcos.

The Bobcats then hit the road for three consecutive matches beginning with a rematch of the 2018 Sun Belt Championship Finals contest at Little Rock on the 27th. Texas State conclude that weekend at Arkansas State before facing ULM on Oct. 4.

TXST is back home on Sunday, Oct. 6 against Appalachian State. The following Friday sees the team host Louisiana.

The final road matches of the regular season takes the Bobcats to Coastal Carolina and Georgia State on Oct. 18 and 20, respectively.

For the fifth straight year, Texas State will conclude the regular season on its home pitch. This year they will host Troy on the 25th and two days later take on Georgia Southern for Senior Day.

This year’s Sun Belt Conference Championship is the fourth straight that will take place in Foley, Alabama at the Foley Sports Complex. The tournament will be played from Nov. 6-10.

“I encourage Bobcat Nation to come out and support their dedicated players during our nine home matches as they are hard at work and ready to fight for Texas State,” said Conner. “Having fans in the stands, especially at home matches, gives us a tremendous advantage.”
