SAN MARCOS – The Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion at Texas State University will host the 36th Annual Commemoration Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr., on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
The event will begin at 6 PM with a commemorative march from Old Main to the LBJ Student Center, immediately followed by a reception and creative performances in the student center ballroom at 6:30 PM.
This year’s theme, Dream Together, challenges people to collaborate in reflecting on his ideas and commemorating his legacy while continuing the pursuit of a more just and equitable society for all.
The Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion and the MLK Jr. Celebration Committee, in partnership with stakeholders across campus, sponsors the annual MLK Celebration in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr., Day.
The MLK commemorative march and celebration program at Texas State provides an opportunity for recognizing the contributions of King to the advancement of civil rights in the United States.
Also known as the MLK Day of Service, Americans are encouraged to participate in service to their communities and neighborhoods on this federal holiday.
