SAN MARCOS, Texas – On Wednesday, Texas State men’s golf head coach Shane Howell announced the tournament schedule for the 2017-18 season. Half of the 10 regular season tournaments will see the Bobcats compete in the Lone Star State.
First up for TXST is a trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado to compete in the Gene Miranda Invitational. Hosted by Air Force, the three-day tournament takes place Sept. 8-10 at the Eisenhower Golf Course.
A month later the Bobcats return to the links for the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at the Golfcrest Country Club in Pearland, Texas. This will be the second year in-a-row that TXST will play in the tournament hosted by Houston, Rice and Sam Houston State.
The Bobcats head to El Paso for the Price’s “Give ‘Em 5” Invitational that will be contested Oct. 20-22. It will be the fourth consecutive year that the team will compete in the UTEP hosted tournament.
October ends with TXST playing at The Republic Golf Course in San Antonio. The Bobcats will compete in the James S. Litz Memorial that is hosted by Incarnate Word.
To close out the fall portion of the schedule, TXST travels westward to California for the St. Mary’s Invitational from Nov. 5-8. Teams will play 72 holes at the Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, California. It will be the third consecutive year that the Bobcats will compete in the tournament.
A trip to Lafayette, Louisiana begins the spring segment of the schedule Feb. 26-27 for the Louisiana Classics at the Oakbourne Country Club.
The first of two straight tournaments in Texas for the Bobcats begins Mar. 12-14 with the Bob Sitton Invitational at TPC Las Colinas in Irving, Texas. The event will be co-hosted by Oral Roberts and Stephen F. Austin. The following weekend sees Texas State compete in the UTSA hosted Lone Star Invitational at the Briggs Ranch Country Club in San Antonio.
Mar. 26-27 will see the Bobcats play at the Golden Nugget Invitational that is hosted by McNeese and played at The Country Club at The Golden Nugget course.
The final regular season tournament takes TXST to Arizona for the Wyoming Cowboy Classic from Apr. 9-10. Teams will contest the event at the Chandler-located Whirlwind Golf Club at Wild Horse Pass.
For the fourth straight year the Sun Belt Conference Championships will be played at the Raven Golf Club in Miramar Beach, Florida. The tournament takes place Apr. 22-24 and will see the teams play three rounds before the top four teams enter match play to determine the team champion and automatic berth into the regional round of the NCAA Championships.
