Texas State prepares For Summer 2016 Commencement Events

SAN MARCOS – Veronica Muzquiz Edwards, a member of the Texas State University System Board of Regents, will be the keynote speaker at one of three commencement ceremonies to be held at Texas State University on Friday, August 12, in the university’s Strahan Coliseum.

 

Edwards will speak during the 10 a.m. ceremony, to be attended by degree candidates from the College of Education, College of Fine Arts and Communication, College of Health Professions and Graduate College.

 

Degree candidates from the College of Liberal Arts, College of Science and Engineering, University College and Graduate College will attend the 2 p.m. ceremony.

 

Degree candidates from the College of Applied Arts, McCoy College of Business Administration and Graduate College will attend the 6 p.m. ceremony.

 

More than 1,800 students are candidates for undergraduate and graduate degrees at Texas State this summer.

 

Edwards is the owner and CEO of InGenesis, a premier supplier of workforce management and talent acquisition services which ranks as one of the largest staffing firms in the nation and the fastest-growing firm in the United States, according to Staffing Industry Analysts. Before founding InGenesis in 1998, she served as an executive at a Fortune 100 telecommunications company.

 

In honor of her leadership and national impact, Hispanic Business magazine named Edwards as one of the 50 most influential Hispanic business leaders in the country, and the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce selected her as the National Hispanic Businesswoman of the Year. In addition, Edwards was selected as the Regional Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year; one of the top 100 middle market CEOs in the nation by Chief Executive magazine; one of the most influential executives by Staffing Industry Analysts; and one of America’s Top 10 Female Entrepreneurs by Inc. magazine.

 

Edwards received her baccalaureate degree from Texas State, which recognized her with the Texas State Distinguished Alumna Award in 2014.
