Texas State records 35 of the Sun Belt’s top 10 times and distances

SAN MARCOS, TX – The Texas State men’s and women’s track and field teams combined to win 17 events and post 35 of the top ten times and distances in the Sun Belt Conference at the Bobcat Classic on April 30 and May 2 at the Texas State Track and Field Stadium.

The men’s team won four field events, three individual races, and a relay. The women’s team was victorious in three races and six field events.

Jaylen Allen had the fastest men’s 400-meter time in the Sun Belt Conference with 46.75 seconds, and Taahir Kelly’s time of 47.17 is the third-fastest time.

Pedro Osorio Lopez won the 800 meters with the Sun Belt’s fastest time of 1:48.38. The mark is the second-fastest time in school history.

Bervensky Pierre had the Sun Belt’s second-fastest time in the 200 meters with 20.96 seconds. He won the men’s 100 meters race with the league’s seventh-best time, 10.51 seconds. Kelly had the seventh-fastest time in the 200 meters with 21.22 seconds.

Sadi Giles had the Sun Belt’s seventh-best time in the women’s 100 meters with 11.77 seconds and the fifth-best time in the 200 meters with 23.95 seconds.

Christine Irving had the league’s third-best time in the 200 meters with 23.89 seconds and Sun Belt’s ninth fastest time in the 400 meters with 55.57.

Chermariea Hardy had the conference’s fourth-best times in the 200-and-400 meters. She finished the 200 meters in 23.93 seconds and won the women’s 400 meters in 55.16 seconds.

Kattiana Ealy-Pulido won both women’s hurdle events with the Sun Belt’s second-fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles (1:00.38) and No. 10-fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles (13.96). She edged her twin sister, Ariana Ealy- Pulido, who tied Kattiana’s time in 100-meter hurdles. Paige Kimble’s time of 1:02.04 in the 400-meter hurdles is the Sun Belt’s eighth-fastest time.

Anayah Washington won the women’s long jump with the second-best effort in the Sun Belt Conference with 6.06 meters (19’ 10.75”). She finished ahead of teammate MathildeCanet, who had the Sun Belt’s sixth furthest long jump with 5.95 meters (19’ 6.25”), and Naomi Ferdinand had the 10th-best jump in the league and finished in third place with 5.88 meters (19’ 3.50”).

Canet won the women’s high jump and ranks fourth in the Sun Belt after clearing 1.73 meters (5’ 8”). Lauren Purdom and Tina Douglas are tied for seventh in the high jump rankings after clearing 1.70 meters (5’ 7”).

Ferdinand won the women’s triple jump with the seventh-best leap in the Sun Belt with 12.07 meters (39’ 7.25”).

Lauryn Small had the Sun Belt’s fourth-longest women’s shot put with a mark of 14.60 meters (47’ 11.00”), and Ebony Wolridge had the league’s eighth-best put with 14.31 meters (46’ 11.50”). Wolridge also won the women’s discus throw with 45.04 meters (174’ 9”).

Brandon Busby won three throwing events, and Ben Collerton finished in a first-place tie in the men’s long jump with a leap of 7.22 meters (23’ 8.25”). Busby won the men’s hammer with the Sun Belt Conference’s sixth-longest throw of 59.61 meters (195’ 7”), shot put with the league’s ninth-best mark of 15.92 meters (52’ 2.75”), and the discus with the sixth-best throw of 59.94 meters (167’ 1”).

James Noles had a throw of 49.80 meters (163’ 5”) in the discus to rank seventh in the Sun Belt Conference.

Travian Holst won the men’s 5,000 meters with a time of 15:44.69, edging his teammate, Nicholas Mosqueda, who had a time of 15:47.89.

The performances give the Bobcats momentum heading into next week’s Sun Belt Conference Championships May 13-15 in Mobile, Ala.
