Next up for the Bobcats is the Sun Belt Indoor Championships that will be held Feb. 19-20 in Birmingham, Alabama.
NEW ORLEANS – For the third time in four weeks, the Texas State track & field team had at least one athlete earn the weekly indoor honors from the Sun Belt Conference. Today it was announced that Kylah Smith was selected as co-women’s track athlete of the week.
At the Jaguar Invitational on Sunday, Smith took over the top spot in the conference in the 60-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 8.47 in the preliminary round. It is also tied for the ninth fastest in program history. She posted a time of 8.53 in the finals to take second and record the fastest time among the collegiate runners.
The Lancaster, Texas native also finished fourth in the long jump with a personal best distance of 5.65m (18-6.5). Her mark is tied for ninth in the conference rankings.
It is the first weekly indoor award for Smith in her career.
