Texas State to Celebrate Arbor Day, Tree Campus USA Designation

Texas State University has been honored with 2015 Tree Campus USA recognition by the Arbor Day Foundation for the university’s commitment to effective urban forest management.

This marks the fifth consecutive year Texas State has been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation. The university was first awarded the designation in 2011.

Texas State will celebrate Arbor Day for 2015 at 10 a.m. February 19 in Sewell Park. Originally scheduled for late October of last year, the event was postponed due to flooding. Eighteen assorted trees, including native pecan, sycamore and bigtooth maple, will be planted during the event.
The first 100 participants to sign up will receive commemorative T-shirt.

Texas State will celebrate two such events this year. Arbor Day 2016 will take place in November.
